About Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a dungeon-crawling role-playing game developed and published by Atlus. It was released for the Nintendo DS in 2009 in Japan and 2010 in other regions.
The game places you in command of the United Nations' Schwarzwelt Investigation Unit, sent to Antarctica to investigate a rapidly expanding anomaly known as the Schwarzwelt. Your primary objective is to explore this hostile, alien environment, understand its origins, and find a way to prevent it from consuming the Earth. You navigate through a series of interconnected, first-person dungeons, mapping out the treacherous terrain and confronting the strange creatures that inhabit it.
Core gameplay in Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey revolves around turn-based combat and demon management. When encountering enemies, you can choose to attack, defend, use items, or attempt to negotiate with demons to recruit them to your side. Successful negotiations allow you to add these demons to your party, which you can then use in subsequent battles. Demons can also be combined through a fusion system to create more powerful allies. Managing your party's composition and the skills of your demons is crucial for surviving the challenges ahead.
The game features a unique setting combining futuristic military technology with the supernatural elements characteristic of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Your investigation team operates from a mobile base, the Schwarzwelt Investigation Unit, which allows for strategic planning and equipment upgrades. The emphasis is on exploration, resourcefulness, and strategic combat within the confines of the alien Schwarzwelt.
